Temporary Insurance Authorization Specialist (full-time)

Anticipated start date: on or before August 31, 2020
Anticipated end date: January 18, 2021

Position Summary:

This temporary position's primary function is to obtain and verify ongoing authorizations and payment application for all payers and all services needed within Canvas Health during a staff leave of absence.  This includes but is not limited to:

  • Collaborate with Administrative Staff, Accounts Receivable staff, clinical staff, payers, and others as necessary to obtain and maintain authorizations and notifies appropriate staff with questions or issues. 
  • Maintain, monitor, and apply all 835 electronic payments for Canvas Health and Accounts Receivable. 
  • Maintain and monitor all electronic explanation of benefits (EOBs) for payers and application in the electronic health record (EHR).



High School graduation with two years' experience in a medical office or other healthcare setting with six months reviewing medical documentation preferred.  Demonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel and basic Word applications required.  Experience with Electronic Health Record systems and insurance authorization knowledge preferred.  Must have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, high levels of accuracy, superior customer service skills, and ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
