Elementary Mental Health Classroom Life Skills Counselor

Karner Blue Elementary School - Blaine, MN


Position Summary:

Provide individual, group and family skills services to students enrolled in the Elementary Educational Mental Health Classroom within the 916 School District.  These mental health classrooms are a collaborative project between Canvas Health Inc. and Intermediate School District 916.  Therefore this position is collaborative in nature and requires working closely and being sensitive to relationships with the school district as well as with community providers and the local Social Service and Court Services departments.  This position will work closely with the therapist, classroom teacher and educational staff in providing an atmosphere within the classroom that is sensitive to individual children's needs to promote academic learning and mental health treatment.  This position will be located at the Karner Blue Elementary School in Blaine.  



Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in related human service field and one to two years' experience with severely emotionally disturbed students in an educational or treatment setting required. Experience with Electronic Health Record systems preferred.  This position requires the use of a personal automobile for transportation and may require occasional use for transporting clients on outings.  An active driver's license and vehicle insurance per Canvas Health policy is required.
